DINING
The hotel is very well known for its cuisine and has maintained an AA Rosette for many years.
Our restaurant, the An Garbh (roughly translated from Gaelic to mean ‘hilly area’) has picture windows that overlook the Kyle of Tongue, Ben Loyal, Ben Hope and the ruin of Castle Varrich that sits on the hill line opposite the hotel.
The restaurant is open to non-residents but pre-booking is essential.
Our small kitchen is ruled by our Head Chef, Neil Keevill, who produces wonderful meals using predominately local produce; beef and lamb from Caithness and Sutherland, fresh fish from Scrabster and Wick, venison from local estates, seafood from the Kyle and nearby Loch Eriboll. When it is available to us we also serve wild salmon which is caught at a nearby netting station.
Those of you who love oysters will think that you have died and gone to heaven as the local Kyle of Tongue oysters are available fresh every day. When they are available we also serve langoustines fresh from Loch Eriboll.

Guests who have special dietary requirements are well looked after particularly if you let us know in advance.
The Restaurant is generally open from April to October and our guests sit down to dine between 1800 and 2030 hours. But don't despair the full menu will be available in the Bistro Bar from the day we open on 1st March and timings are the same as for the Restaurant!
Our restaurant menu is also served in our Bistro Bar. We hope that this will prove popular with those visitors who wished to dine from the restaurant menu but preferred to eat in the bar.
As the Bistro Bar does not overlook the scenery we have hung a wonderful panoramic photograph by Alan Wrigley which allows you a view of the countryside as seen from the restaurant!
We do not have a long or elaborate wine list but there is something for everyone and all reasonably priced. Our excellent house red and white wine is sold by the glass but all other wines are by the bottle.
We serve lunches in the Bistro Bar between 1200 and 1415 Monday to Saturday and from 1230 to 1415 on a Sunday. Our lunch menu can also be seen by clicking on sample menu further up the page.
Your full Scottish Breakfast is served in the restaurant between 0745 and 0915 hours and includes fruit juice, cereals, porridge, full cooked breakfast, including kippers, haggis and black pudding, tea, coffee and toast. Just the thing to set you up for a day of travelling or sightseeing in the area.
