Having been coming to Tongue since 1960 with my parents. I always remember Eddie Turnbull, one of the Hibernian "Famous Five" coming into your bar and my father had a drink with him. It made his holiday. We always had lunch at the Benloyal. I have yearning to come back up for a short break and I will certainly be staying at the Benloyal.

It has taken us 5 years to get to the hotel, but the wait was worth it for the views and hospitality. Excellent short break.

My mother used to work at the Benloyal in the kitchen and the bar in the early 70's. We lived across the road and parking lot in 3 Loyal Terrace. I have been back to Tongue twice since we left and stayed at the hotel once. This site brings back wonderful memories and great longing.

My husband and I visited the Ben Loyal in 1998 and plan to visit again very soon!I had to leave a comment even though it has been awhile since we visited because the Ben Loyal will always be close to our hearts and a place we long to stay at again. The staff was lovely and the accomodations were beautiful! And the scenery and town are beyond description.

Having known about the hotel for some time but never visited, on a recent visit to the area we called in for a meal in the evening. The food was exquisite. Even the simple burger with stilton was a taste sensation. If you love your food then have a meal here, your taste buds will love you for the rest of your lives. I suspect that the accomodation is excellent too, as was the friendly and helpful service.

(From a postcard sent to us by a guest) I successfully made it to John O'Groats on 13th October at the end of my 2 weeks cycle ride from Lands End. Thank you for the use of your garage to repair my bike and for a memorable stay for my father, brother and me. Very comfortable, stunning views and outstanding cooking.

Dear Elaine I write with regards to our stay with you for the evening of 2 June 2001. We really enjoyed our stay in your premises. Your attention in looking after us was much appreciated. Thank you for helping to make our trip a pleasant one. I would have no hesitation in recommending your accommodation to another. After leaving Tongue we travelled along the B871, and came across many deer en-route. We then drove along the A897 to Helmsdale and then down the East Coast to Inverness. By taking this route we were given a splendid view of the Highlands Once again thank you Yours sincerely Peter J. Bryan Aussies Abroad

I occasionally write websites and I really enjoyed browsing through yours. Can't beat the personal touch and genuine interest in where you're from. The Scottish Highlands and our own Donegal have a lot in common, including the weather! You're right to make good use of the photographs as the scenery is really stunning. Hope you have a great Easter and summer 2006 and we'll have to try and get up to you for a break sometime soon.

Excellent facilities, view from room terrific and chef prepared and excellent dinner and breakfast. Would visit again if up that way, even though the weather was showers, sunny periods and quite cold.
